This is a piece that will help tell the story of nature's jewels in my next exhibit, hanging next to a mosaic of rough diamonds, dozens of carats worth, that have the illustrious appearance of well-organized gravel. The rarest and most precious of minerals against the most common of flowers.
The challenge is to rethink what we value in the natural world. Nature is brimming with jewels. In order to maximize our relationship with her, we must discover our own.

General opening and book signing is Saturday, Feb. 25 and the exhibition runs through September 4.
If you're in the area, come see what happens when tens of thousands of specimens in hundreds of pieces of art collide with inspiring film, music, writings and interactives.

Another bucket list species, the leafy sea dragon. This huge specimen was graciously donated by one of the great aquaculture institutions of America after its passing.
I don't know of this species has ever been effectively preserved before. If not, I know why --it was close to impossible.
Come see it and thousands of other specimens at #sciencemuseummn starting February 25.
